Ebike battery cover D.I.Y/tip
So my bike ride this morning was during a rain storm. I was on the ebike, and would like to share how I cover my battery during things like rain and snow. Mind you I ride rad power bikes and you can get the batteries wet or cold to a certain point. But I've had these bikes now for about 8ish years...before covid I know that. Anyway, even in a little drizzle and such, I've always covered the batteries and put a zip lock bag over the displays and plastic over the other controls. I think better be safe than sorry and cover them up, especially the batteries as to replace them cost $500+. So I want to get as much life out of them as possible, because if you haven't known by now with these little diy things, I'm cheap as fuck!
Ok, onto what I do.
This is the bike I rode this morning which is one of my favorites, even over my Radrunner+, the Rad City 3. My favorite because it takes normal 26" tires and so I can easily replace them than the odd sized Radrunner ones. Also Ice Spiker Pro winter ties fit this bike, which handles amazing on ice and snow. Winter biking photos to come.

As you can see, I have something wrapped around the battery.
It's a back pack rain cover.

You can get these off amazon for $10 sometimes less. I like the high vis ones the best because you can never be too seen while bike commuting, and I mostly dress in black and my bikes are mostly black, so high vis vest, and other accessories, are very necessary for me. I have 4 of them. Two which are bike grease stained because I use them as battery covers. The other two are fine which I would cover my 2 old panniers up with until I got those rubber waterproof army ones.

So what I did, was I cut off the long elastic straps that go around a bag, so they don't get caught in anything, like my cranks or chain, especially on this bike where the battery is right by the pedals.
I then just wrap the bag cover around the battery, and secure it with a small bungee cord.

The issue with this Rad City is that it has this bar that wraps around the battery so it is a bit tedious to get it through that bar, but it's all good.

This is the bag on the pedal side, so the bag does get down pretty much the full length. All the electronic connectors is basically covered anyway so it's not too bad. I could possibly fit it all the way but wouldn't want anything to come loose and potentially get into the crank. I've ridden the bike in rain and snow with no issues of that part of the battery being wet or anything.

Anyway, that's it. Yes it don't look pretty but I don't care. Nothing is going to look pretty riding in a storm anyway. xD
Also the main thing is, Pillow Spiv is protected at ALL COSTS. (Those who know, KNOW)

Happy and dry riding folks!
